...And the ghostfaces, ghostwords, ghostrooms haunt me;
Cities joined together by that emotional emptiness,
blending with dark-city into a vastly stretched plain...,
Into the city of night of the soul.

City of Night - John Rechy

Another amazing shot, is that light really blue?

I'm aiming to go out wednesday night and take some night-street shots, courtesy of your inspiring shots!

Another night with your head in the oven, simmering like a heat wave over you.

Yes, it's blue but I brightened it a little. Glad to hear your doing some nightwork. Gotta use a tripod (unless you think you can stand PERFECTLY still for 5 seconds or more-I don't think it's humanly possible...unless your on heroin:bleh:) I find a 5 second exposure with an f-stop of 8 and 400 speed film works well.
Have fun! And keep track of your settings so you can adjust for your next shoot according to the results. Looking forward to seeing some stuff so lemme know when you post those pix.
Good luck
Stephen

Yep, I've taken some long exposures at night from my bedroom window, got a nice tripod that worked perfectly for it. Thanks for the hint on the settings. I'm anal about organising my pictures anyway, and I tend to take note on a piece of paper with what settings I used that were....well optimal.

Thanks for the luck!

This city looks like it will crumble if touched.

Perfect. I always come home with a pocketful of scraps with the settings written on them. I have a feeling you'll do quite well. Black and White is a breaze to shoot at night. Color is a little harder because the artificial light is almost always yellow and it saturates your photos. You may have to adjust them in photoshop by pulling the yellow down or swapping some of it with the red or blue channel.
Peace

The unreality of this is what makes it alluring (again)!

This goes well with the previous laundry shot - same colours - they could be part of a series.

The way you have picked your colours and applied them here makes this image look like it's straight out of a graphic novel or comic book.

There is something expectant about it - like something is about to happen... or come in from around the corner... perhaps an army of marauding zombie lost boys... (or zombie wayward angels)... (or zombie dead end kids)...

maybe I need a stab of night in my arm... :P

hee hee hee...I know what you mean. Sometimes at work I think 'if I could just grind up last night on a mirror and take one good snort...I wouldn't hate the day so much'.:blowkiss:

such a wonderfully intrigueing shot! I love it

Always the summers are slipping away.

Something about this makes it look very unreal... maybe that's what Pete-B was describing, I dunno... I thought it was a 3D rendering at first... very good work though.

As for me, I'll take only these:
Peace, Freedom, Security, and Companionship...
...then let the world trouble me no more.

Three cheers for ~GIMPtacular!
