Artist's Comments

Some nights when the city was dreaming so deeply that you could hear it whisper in it's sleep, Me and Max would climb to the roof and hang our heads over the sides.
Harry Chong had left his light on and you could see the dry cleaning hanging on the racks, floating two feet off the ground like expensive ghosts...waiting for that magic word that would drop them to the floor and let them walk out into the night.
The skinned ducks had been taken down from the window of Sammy's Noodles and Max hissed at a rat that scurried along the wall below us.
And I swear...on nights like these I was almost sure that I was really looking down on a deserted movie set, as if all the building were simply painted on plywood and if I walked around the sides I'd find them propped up with 2x4's.
And from the west a cool breeze blew in from the Hudson River and filled me with a sweet lonesome ache....

Just as I was pointing a few people to your work, I was hoping you'd post something fresh today! Love the stark shadow in this.

Something I never seem to be able to capture here, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. But I've worked it out. America seems to have such vast...space and open streets, large 'sidewalks'. Britain is too compact and dosile, I can never really get the right 'feeling' that I want in my photographs!

Good inspiration nevertheless!

Y'now it's funny you should say that cause I was in Amsterdam once and I remember thinking, "How the hell would I get MY car to fit down one of these streets, much less a stretch limo or a Hummer?" Is that what it's like in Britain? I'd like to see it some day. =D

wow... beautiful, it fits so well with the words!!! Bravo

Britain is worse than Amsterdam! Much worse! I've never been to America, and I even found the streets in Amsterdam to have that feeling of 'openess' (is that even a word?)

There's some dodgy countryside roads too, I remember taking a trip to a small village in a large coach, and it literally started rolling backwards on one of the hills!

In other situations cars have had to reverse for half a mile, to allow for the car on the "other side of the road" (I say that in inverted comma's because that's laughable at best) to get past.

We're a small island ever expanding, it's no wonder we're so compact! hehe.

The title is such a great song. :]

heh..well I'll have to leave my car at home when I make the trip. And you and some friends should come to New York someday. People are actually a lot friendlier than the city has a reputation for.
PLUS your money's worth TWICE as much so everything costs half!
Which will suck for me going the other way round...............
:iconprotographer:
Something I could've done last year, regrettabley I didn't.

I've never really understood how people have given New York such a nasty reptutation in terms of friendliness, I can appreciate everyone has their own agenda and what-not.

Alas, I'm a poor student with money going towards studies! One day though, for sure.

And I feel for you about the economy situation, lets hope it just levels out a bit before you hit here!

Someone made that a song? It's old American slang from the 1800's meaning: "In every possible manner or direction".
Sounds nice in the ears............

P.S. I wish that A-hole hadn't parked his crappy little car in front of the building. I waited all night for him to move it and it was COLD.:yum:
