A carnival in daylight is an unfinished beast, anyway.
Rain makes it a ghost.
The wheezing music from the empty, motionless rides
in a soggy, rained out afternoon midway always hit my
chest with a sweet ache.
The colored dance of lights in the seeping air flashed the
puddles and sawdust with an oily glamour.

I love this...it's both nostalgic and creepy at once...Geek Love...that was a good book

Thank you Allie. Sadly they will be tearing Astroland down next year.
And Geek Love is such a brilliant book. I'd heard rumors years ago that David Lynch had aquired the rights to a screenplay of it but it never materialized. Shame though...he would've been ideal to bring it to the screen.
